Our Distinctives

SWCHS is a 9-12th grade high school that exists to develop mature disciples of Jesus Christ who seek, know, live, and proclaim the Truth and glorify God through academic, artistic, and athletic excellence.

Discipleship Model

As a discipleship school, our teachers and staff are intentional in teaching, mentoring, praying for, encouraging, challenging, and supporting every student to train them up into mature disciples of Jesus Christ. This process of discipleship is at the very heart of all we do both inside and outside of the classroom and is the basis for all learning at Southwest Christian.

Teaching for Transformation

Teaching for Transformation (TfT) is a framework used to help activate the SWCHS vision in the classrooms. Each faculty has a "deep hope" listed in their website bio. Students are empowered to see the story of God’s kingdom and invited to live the story. Classroom activities and instruction are aimed at helping students to see the deeper connections between the content and God’s story. Multiple days of professional development are set aside each year for deepening TfT practices.

Christ-Centered Community

Our families often say the depth and authenticity of the Christian community they discovered at Southwest Christian were unexpected blessings. Students are known, valued, and encouraged to love one another as Christ loves the church. Southwest Christian believes strongly in discipleship through the effective partnerships between parents, Southwest Christian, and the local church. Therefore, SWCHS offers abundant and meaningful ways for parents, relatives, alumni, friends, and pastors to actively engage at SWCHS.

Aiming for Excellence

SWCHS vision statement: We exist to develop mature disciples of Jesus Christ who seek, know, live, and proclaim the Truth and glorify God through academic, artistic, and athletic excellence. We believe we are called to do all things for the glory of God. We know we are not perfect; we are sinful. However, each day we strive to be more like Christ.
