Vision and Mission

It is the Vision of SWCHS to help make students into mature disciples of Jesus Christ who “stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured” (Colossians 4:12).  Mature disciples are students who love God by obeying His commands and excelling as scholars of the Truth, stewards of God's resources, statesmen of His Church, and servants of their communities.  It is the Mission of SWCHS to train students to think and act Biblically towards the world in their academic, athletic, and artistic achievement.

School Day

Class begins at 8:00 a.m. and the school day ends at 2:45 p.m.  Southwest uses a modified block schedule, with all 7 classes meeting each Monday.  On Tuesday through Friday, only 3 or 4 classes meet per day.

Distinctives

  • The school’s extensive discipleship program involves all staff members and students with a goal to develop Christ-centered scholars, stewards, and servants.
  • The school is committed to an integrated Biblical worldview in every discipline.  Students are inspired to recognize and worship God not only in chapel, but also in physics class, English, sports, choir, and art.
  • Teachers work together to integrate the vision into a curriculum with very high academic standards.  For example, seniors write a comprehensive 20 page paper comparing the worldview of a famous non-Christian thought-leader to a Biblical worldview.
  • Each year the senior class takes a trip to the Dominican Republic to serve in a variety of ways with churches and orphanages.
