Counseling Office

Discover who God made you to be...
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."  Ephesians 2:10

The school counseling office at Southwest Christian exists to help students understand their value, purpose and calling from God. Each of us is uniquely made, formed in His image, having tremendous worth before our Creator. Our chief end is to enjoy God and worship him forever. We are fearfully and wonderfully made to know God, return His love, and serve Him from now into eternity. The primary focus of the counselors is to help students gain a clearer picture of who they are and who God is calling them to be. Emphasis is placed on helping students see that all they do here at Southwest Christian is preparation for their life beyond high school and the living out of their calling to be followers of Jesus Christ. By understanding who they are and discovering who God made them to be, students will be more faithful to their specific calling, more fruitful in their endeavors, and more fulfilled overall in their life.

The counseling department offers support in the following areas:

  • Transitioning to SWCHS
  • Educational Planning
  • Personal/Social Development
  • Academic Support
  • Post-High School Planning
  • Post-Secondary On Site (PSOS) / College in the Schools (CIS)
  • Post-Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO)
  • Distance Education Options (DE)
  • Communication and consultation with staff and parents regarding individual student needs
  • Referral to appropriate in-school and/or community resources

The counselors meet with all the students over the course of the year and are available on an informal basis at the request of students, parents or staff members.
