The rapid advance of technology around the world has dramatically changed the educational needs of students today.
At Southwest Christian, we believe that Christians should participate in the changes occurring around us and our students should have the skills to bring the Gospel to every corner of the physical and digital world.
To accomplish this, the SWCHS science department is moving towards an integrated STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) program. The chairman of the science department, Dr. Daniel Ehresmann, with 20 years of experience in the industry, joined the staff in 2013 to create a connection between science education and science industry. SWCHS continues to add science and math staff to grow these departments. Southwest Christian offers a pre-engineering course, aimed at introducing basic design tools and engineering thought processes, and a standard engineering course.
SWCHS also supports a robotics program and other extracurricular opportunities to encourage learning and experiencing science. Students can participate in clubs to learn Computer Assisted Design (CAD) software and program languages, and study ecology.
