Student Life

Our goal is for each student to know they belong. We want them to experience a friendly, deep, and rich community. High school is a fantastic time to explore different activities and discover what passions God has wired students with. We believe our community provides many experiences for students to get involved—either as a leader or participant—trying new activities and striving in programs they are passionate about.

Student life begins with a common vision to seek, know, live and proclaim the Truth of Jesus Christ and expands into all areas of life for the student. Each student is loved and valued as a child of God and then encouraged to grow in their love for God and others.

At the start of their time at Southwest Christian, each student will be connected to a small group of other students in a discipleship group. This is a great starting point for connection, social and service opportunities, and individual spiritual growth. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to worship together as a student body and within small group settings. Students will have the chance to serve, share, and witness through Southwest Christian’s all-school service days and will be challenged to grow academically and relationally. Students will grow on the athletic field, in the fine arts, and within many social gatherings and community building events.

Throughout their time at SWCHS, students will have opportunities to connect, participate, evangelize, and serve.

Students, as a Christian school, we hope today you will remember 9/11/2001. Pray for the families remembering the 20th anniversary of their loved one’s death, for the Afghans suffering in that country’s current crisis, for the US military suffering wounds from their service and those wondering what their sacrifices were for, and for the health of our nation.

Above all, may we as Christians remember that our strength is not in money, power, or military might, the symbols of which terrorists attacked that day, but in the power of the Lord our God. He alone is our mighty fortress!

Also, there are excellent resources to help you understand this day—start with asking your parents and grandparents what they experienced, and then look for podcasts and documentaries about the day. A great book is “102 Minutes” about what happened inside the World Trade Center Towers. A great podcast that also suggests a Christian YouTube video about the attacks is at breakpoint.org/teaching-9-11-to-the-emerging-generation.
