Southwest Christian believes in the importance of gaining an understanding of the many creative abilities given to each of us by our Creator and the importance of developing these abilities.
From learning the fundamentals of art, to experimenting with various materials and elements of design, our visual arts program allows students to develop an appreciation of art and to express their creative talents.
A variety of classes in the fine arts are available at Southwest including:
Articulate, the annual art show in the spring, highlights the work from many of these classes as well as the literary/art publication, Poiema, which showcases both art and creative writing.
Students can also get involved in the fine arts by being a part of National Art Honor Society (Art Club) meeting weekly on Fridays, or come to work in the ceramics studio during Clay Club that meets every other Thursday afternoon.
For more information on how you can be involved, please contact the art department chair, Stephanie Gullifer.
