FIRST Robotics Club

Team 3299, better known as the Warehouse Crew, had a fantastic first year at SWCHS.  Earning the Rookie All-Star Team Award at the 10,000 Lakes Region Competition in April earned them a spot at the National Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Now the robot is "on tour" and available for demonstrations at local elementary or middle schools. Check back in Fall 2010 for details on the next season.

Ceramics Club

Ceramics Club is open to all students and meets Thursdays from 3-6 pm, typically every other week.  Meet in the ceramics lab.  $3 fee covers cost of materials.

Summer Learning Opportunities

Here are 2 ways that your student can make use of some of his/her “free” time this summer to accomplish something worthwhile!

1. The University of St. Thomas is again offering their “Study Smarter, Not Harder” courses, available in three levels: students entering 6th – 8th grades, 9th – 11th grades, and 12th graders and college students. These programs are geared towards improving reading speed, comprehension, and study skills. There are classes offered in Edina, Eden Prairie, and Plymouth, both days and evenings. Tuition and fees vary by program level, but there are family discounts available. There are flyers available at the receptionist’s desk, or you may call them directly for more information (800) 310-0143.

2. Tri-C Publications has Summer Skills Workbooks available for purchase, for students to use at home to keep their skills strong over the summer months, or to work on improving skills in areas of weakness. There are books available to work on skills in math, Language Arts, Spanish, French, and keyboarding (for elementary students), at various levels (grade school through high school). See their website for details and to place orders: http://www.summerskills.com
