In 2003, Southwest and the City of Chaska signed a resolution giving the school a temporary use permit allowing the school to remain at its present location until September 2008. (Currently this temporary use permit has been extended for SWCHS until a new school site can be found.)

In the winter of 2006, the Board of Education appointed a Next Site Facility Committee to begin the process of examining the options and recommending a new site for the school.

In 2008 the Chaska City Council gave approval to a concept plan for a new school to be built at a site located at the intersection of the new Highway 212 and Bavaria Road.

Since receiving that approval there has been a significant downturn in the economy causing the SW Board of Education to re-assess its plans to proceed with a land acquisition in the immediate future. We are choosing now to act responsibly to our community by delaying that plan until circumstances dictate a more suitable time for us to proceed. The Board of Education will, however, continue to lay the groundwork for our next site as we will continue to consider other possible sites in the area.

Although the recent events and trends in the economy have caused us to proceed with more caution, the Board and administration are committed to, and excited about, the future of Southwest Christian High School and the planning of its new campus. Our current location and the adjacent building (105 Peavey Road) are both owned by Southwest Christian High School and will be used as equity that will be applied to our future acquistion.

As always, please continue in prayer as we seek to make wise decisions to insure our long term success as a provider of a biblically-based, Christ-centered education.
