Zero Hour Band to be Offered Fall 2010

SWCHS would like to announce an exciting new opportunity for our students to expand their elective choices – a ZERO HOUR Wind Ensemble. The class will meet BEFORE school 2 days a week. Tentatively, the class would meet Wednesday and Friday mornings, from 7:45-8:45. Those students that have had to make the tough choice to give up playing their instrument in order to pursue other elective areas will now have the opportunity to do BOTH!

A special incentive: freshmen and sophomores who sign up for Wind Ensemble and continue playing through their junior year will be given the option to have one OPEN HOUR during the school day (currently only available to seniors or PSEO students).

Students will be able to earn a credit for Wind Ensemble like any other SWCHS course. Colleges look favorably upon students that pursue coursework in a broad range of areas and that take on extra curricular courses such as band, so the extra credits earned in the freshmen and sophomore years could easily enhance a student’s transcript when applying for college admission.

If you play an instrument, or have played one in recent years, and would be interested in joining this outstanding performance group, or if you have questions about it, please contact Ann Broscoff at a_broscoff@swchs.org or Woody Johnson at w_johnson@swchs.org.
