"When I sent my children to SWCHS, I expected that they would get a solid education.  I expected that they would be in a Christian environment.  I expected that they would find Christian friends.  And, I expected to find staff and faculty that would care for my child more so than at public schools. Southwest met all these expectations. But the thing I wasn't expecting was that my daughter would grow up with such confidence! Confidence in what she believes, in how she relates to others, and in who she is.  I believe it was, in great part, the result of being in that environment for 4 years; an environment that reinforced the things that we taught at home. That kind of healthy confidence is one of those intangibles that you can't track so easily, like test scores. And now I see the same thing happening in my second daughter, who is a senior at Southwest.  So, after consistently seeing it in my first 2 children, I'm looking forward to sending our third daughter to Southwest next fall."

“As we look back over the past five years, it gives us unspeakable joy to see how God has used Southwest to apply bold, bright, and deep brushstrokes on the masterpiece of each of the lives of our children. We have found the Southwest
environment and people to be great partners with us in training our children to walk in ‘the good works’ God desires for them.”

Matt Mickelson, 2003 Graduate

"Southwest has really helped prepare me for college.  I have an extra edge because Southwest gave me the studying tools, discipline, and preparation to get into the school I wanted to go to and to succeed in my college career.  Southwest really encouraged me in my walk with God and always encouraged me to go after God in all that we do."

Paul Haverstock, 2002 Graduate

"If I had waited until college to get serious about my Christian faith, I probably never would have.  But God had a plan for me, and a tremendous part of it was Southwest Christian High School, where the most critical part of my spiritual growth took place."

Christy Fleming, 2000 Graduate

"Not only did I learn how to study, but Southwest taught me how to critically evaluate each subject I study through the lens of my faith.  I learned how to be a life-long learner at Southwest!"

Bryan Sandvig, 2006 Graduate

"This past year at Wheaton I was assigned 7 essays and 6 papers.  All of these papers were challenging, but not because of their length, but only due to the subject matter. What I mean is that I was challenged with what I was writing about, not with the actual task of writing.  Southwest gave me a great foundation for writing research papers.  Where some of my classmates saw these essays as something to labor over, I could very easily sit down and write in a few hours. Southwest made it very easy to organize my thoughts, outline what I wanted to say, and then sit down and write in a manner that was well put together.  I am so thankful... It greatly helped me in writing these papers in college.

Southwest greatly prepared me for Wheaton. I was never overly stressed over my workload, as some of my classmates were, and I was able to approach every project, paper, and test with the confidence that I knew what I was doing because of my days at SW. I am grateful that I was able to learn many skills of study at SW, in order to better my studies in college."

Matt Kunnari, 2002 Graduate

"It seems that many students [at college] struggle with the concept of what is their worldview.  Southwest has helped me establish a firm biblical worldview and equipped me with the tools to navigate those tough questions in life.  I am now able to assist my friends when stumbling blocks cross their paths and I have an anchor for myself when storms come my way."

Jessica Amos, 2001 Graduate

"I look back on my time at Southwest with many fond memories of classmates and faculty.  And as I try to pinpoint why I had such a positive experience, one word kept coming to mind and that word is committed.  Southwest, the administration and the faculty, are committed to the spiritual growth and the academic success of its students.  This commitment really has a huge impact on everyone who attends, whether they realize it at the time or not."

David Johnson, 2000 Graduate

"Southwest taught me many valuable lessons that I have been able to apply throughout my college career.  I learned early to write coherently (if not concisely!) and refined my writing style.  While in college, I have observed that low-quality writing is very pervasive, especially in the freshman class.  I am grateful that I was able to skip the general composition classes, while still obtaining good scores on writing assignments.  I believe the good English education I received has quite a lot to do with my success.  I also found the advanced math and science programs very beneficial; I was able to immediately take Physics without floundering as many students do.  More importantly, Southwest helped me establish a solid spiritual foundation.  Bible classes helped encourage develpment of good study methods.  The faculty encouraged students to lead God-honoring lives."
