Financial Aid

Southwest Christian seeks to attract a diverse and talented student body.  To achieve that end, Southwest is committed to providing financial assistance to qualified students whose families cannot afford the school’s full tuition.  Southwest uses the services of TADS (Tuition Aid and Data Services) to calculate financial aid.

You can apply for financial aid online at www.mytads.com.  If you would like to use an application worksheet to prepare before starting the online application, call the Bookkeeping Office at SWCHS to request one.  The initial deadline for financial aid applications (for fall enrollment) is March 15 of each year.  Financial aid is available after this date on a first-come first-served basis.  Applications will still be taken in the spring and summer until all financial aid has been awarded.

Unsure if you should apply?  Because so many factors are taken into consideration in the application, Southwest staff are unable to predict whether a family would qualify for aid or not.  Our best advice is that if you feel that it would be a financial hardship to pay the entire amount of tuition, you should prayerfully consider applying.  Note that TADS takes into account not only your income from 2009, but your anticipated income for 2010.

What is the True Cost of a Christian Education?

When considering private tuition, it may be helpful to consider:

  • Private Christian schools, in general, provide better academic college preparedness nationwide than public schools. SWCHS alumni are very prepared for college, and we hold an excellent reputation among Christian and secular colleges.
  • Giving your student an excellent high school education may pay off in the future.  Among the 44 graduating seniors from the class of 2009, 25 of the students garnered a total of $2.1 million in scholarship offers from colleges, universities, and military academies.
  • There is a cost in sending your child to public school. The cost may be a sacrifice or compromise in what your child is taught -- their values, ethics, or worldview. It may be a cost in that your child does not have a significant teacher or coach that is a Christian. Or it may be a loss of personal attention as the student is lost in the crowd at a large school. The point is that free education is not truly "free."
