2019 Academic Reflection

Published June 3, 2019

The 2018–19 school year was a year of change for Southwest Christian High School. Along with the added building expansion and more academic programming, SWCHS implemented The Latin Honor System for the first time with the new weighted grade scale.

Weighted Grades

Southwest Christian High School moved to a weighted grade system for the 2018-19 school year. Post-Secondary On Site (PSOS) classes taught at SWCHS for dual credit and Advanced Placement (AP) classes were graded on a 5.0 scale. Classes taught at SWCHS designated as Honors level were graded on a 4.5 scale. All other classes, including online Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) courses, were graded on a 4.0 scale.

Valedictorian & Salutatorian

The move to weighted grades accurately reflects the rigor of coursework in determining the school’s valedictorian and salutatorian. Lukas Haugen earned this year’s honor of being named Valedictorian, and Hannah Beatty was named the Salutatorian. Congratulations to both of these students for this incredible achievement!
