4×100 Team Wins State Championship

The 4×100 relay team won the state championship title with a Class A record time of 42.88.
Josiah Colman, Isaiah Colman, Xander DuMoulin, and Zach Ertel brought home some hardware for their stand-out state performance. The hand-offs were flawless. Watching the replay of the race, the guys all agreed. It was the third leg, an explosive split from DuMoulin, that pulled them ahead. DuMoulin deflected the attention calling it a “team effort.” and the relay anchor, Ertel, pointed the victory back on his teammates.
“These three gave me a nice lead. I didn’t have to do much. We pray before every race. We just run our fastest and have fun. I was nervous beforehand, but Xander gave me a pep talk about how we have made it this far, let’s just go for it. There’s no one I’d rather be doing this with than these three guys. I love these guys.”
All four runners were also in the soccer program. The team of brothers and best friends have been heavily involved in multiple sports at Southwest Christian. “I’m here with my brother and he’s graduating,” J. Colman said. “He’s going off to the military in three or four months and to share this moment with him and my best friends is the greatest. The Colman brothers were not strangers to Southwest Christian coming in as freshmen. The toddlers grew up at the track with their mom, who was a former SWCHS head track coach. “We’ve always talked about leaving a Colman legacy at Southwest, and I think we did that,” J. Colman said.
Josiah will graduate from SWCHS in 2019, and the other three were handed their diplomas a few weeks before they were handed state champion medals.
