Brianna Torgerson’s Student of the Year Campaign
Published January 7, 2019
Southwest Christian sophomore Brianna Torgerson lost her best friend, Kate, to Leukemia. Ever since then, her life hasn’t been the same and “doesn’t take anything for granted.” Torgerson was selected as a Student of the Year candidate for her efforts to raise money for Leukemia Research, whose campaign launched Monday morning. The selfless, joyful high schooler has been working endless hours the past few months to prepare and market her campaign, including creating the video below.
If you feel touched by this 16 year-old’s story of honoring her late friend, please consider donating to her Forever Kate campaign. She has a large goal of raising $150,000 by the end of February. “It’s a really, really big goal and I know that,” Torgerson said. “But I want to do it for Kate, because of what an impact she left on my life, and I just want her legacy to continue on.”
