SWCHS Co-Op Sports with Mound Westonka Continue To Expand
Published March 22, 2019
Southwest Christian High School continues to grow athletic co-op offerings with partner Mound Westonka High School. MWHS hosts four co-op sports for our school (a co-op team is when two or more schools merge to build a stronger program.)
Mound Westonka Co-Ops with SWCHS:
The Stars have had a few notable state qualifiers in the past few years on Mound Westonka teams. These athletes were given the opportunity to train and compete at state meets/tournaments including wrestling, girls hockey, and alpine skiing. The most recent success story was senior Nathan Denney’s state appearance in alpine skiing and the fourth place finish at the state tournament for girls hockey with Kiera Cameron on varsity.
We are grateful for this partnership to provide four additional sports for students to compete in. SWCHS currently offers 22 sports:
Soccer (G/B), Volleyball (G), Cross Country (G/B), Tennis (G/B), Hockey (B), Basketball (G/B), Fencing (G/B), Track & Field (G/B), Trap Shooting (G/B), Golf (G/B), Softball (G), Baseball (B), and Lacrosse (G/B).
Southwest Christian High School is excited to announce the partnership with Mound Westonka football for the fall of 2019. This co-op will allow our students to try out for football for the White Hawks. “In my time at Southwest Christian, our students have not had the opportunity to play varsity football,” said SWCHS Athletic Director Darin Keizer. “With the growth of our school, we felt that it would be a great opportunity to give students the chance to try out and compete at a higher level. We are very excited about this program starting this fall.”
